Dorothy's Obituary

JOHNSON, Dorothy, 96, of Hollywood, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Golfcrest Healthcare Center in Hollywood where she received loving care for three years. She was 96 years old. Dorothy was born in Marianna, FL. During WWII, she was a spot welder at aircraft plants in Baltimore and Miami. She moved to Miami in 1943, and, for many years thereafter was a cosmetician for several companies. In 1995, after retirement, Dorothy moved to Hollywood, FL. She enjoyed the simple things in life like thoroughly reading the newspaper every morning and going out for dinner. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her loved ones. She is survived by her son; James U. Johnson, two nieces; Donna Glidewell and Mitzi Guillot; her nephew, James Pickering (Susan); her great-niece, Katie Smith (Cameron) and her cousins Willard Pyke (Beverly) and Elizabeth Pyke. A visitation will be Sunday July 29, 4:00pm-8:00pm at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Funeral Home 6301 Taft Street, with a graveside service Monday 12:00noon at Flagler Memorial Park Cemetery in Miami. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association is suggested. (1-866-232-8484).
