I often deal with families who are either trying to spend down their funds so that they can qualify for certain benefits or are trying to protect their current benefits.
The most common misconception that most people make is thinking that they are purchasing “real property”. What you are purchasing is a right of burial. When you pay for your “plot” in full, you will receive a deed of interment rights. The right to be buried does not count as an asset. This means if you need to spend down current funds in your account, purchasing a right of burial might be a wise decision. Please contact me at [email protected] for more information.
