Fred was born in the Panama Canal Zone on August 28th 1957. He graduated 8th grade from St. Mary's of the Assumption and from Port Richmond High School. He graduated with honors and continued on to receive a technical degree in Engineering from Staten Island City College. After graduating Fred decided to move across country and ended up in sunny San Diego California, where he worked at the shipping yards for several years.
Fred fell in love and was married to Nancy Pinkerton, on March 26th 1988. They enjoyed time traveling to Australia together and eventually moved north to Portland Oregon. They were married 12 years and had two beautiful children Nicole and Jamie.
Fred worked as an Engineering Inspector for Broward County Construction and after leaving the county he worked for several construction companies in the Miami-Dade area. He was a distinguished Eagle Scout of Troop 74 at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church and later would go on to be an influential Scout leader for many youths. After formally retiring he spent most of his time fishing, camping, listening to his favorite bands, hanging out with friends, discussing politics, and helping his buddies out. He always knew how to work hard and play hard and care for those when he could.

I was saddened to hear of Freddy’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with Freddy during his time with Broward County.
He was such a pleasure to be around and his smile could light up a room.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
RIP my friend.
Fred was a real stand-up guy whom I worked with in the early 1980s and I always enjoyed being around him and his genuine nature. This is sad news. RIP, Fred.
Fred Thompson was a great guy and lots of fun and his girlfriend, Parrie Hines of over 10 years I know is going to sadly missed Fred. I have not seen a person as you, Parrie stick with a man like you did with Fred all those years showing much love to him through thick and thin.
Kudos to you, my dear!! Stay strong and God bless you. Condolences to his family.
