Rene was born in Somerville MA in 1931 to Anthony and Louise Pignone. He was soon joined by brothers Anthony and Reynolds. Rene had a great love of music and studied Jazz percussion for 12 years. He was known for drumming on tables his whole life.
After high school, when the Korean War was declared, he joined the Marine Corps the next day. He was later selected to be a member of the elite Force Recon. His love of the armed forces and country played a big part in his life. After leaving the Marine Corps he became a hairdresser and won the International Trophy 3 years in a row. He founded Rene Coiffures on Newbury St which quickly became one of the top salons in Boston. This is how he met his wife, Nona, of 56 years when she was a Weather Girl on Channel 7.
They married in 1964 and went on to have 3 wonderful sons Anthony, Nick and Arty. For the first 9 years they raised their family in Winchester and then moved to Fairhaven. In 1996 they moved to Hollywood Florida.
During their years in South Florida they were blessed by 3 wonderful daughters in law Katie, Jessica and Deirdre and 5 beautiful grandchildren Sydney, Conor, Sofia, Alexander and Ella. Loved by all who knew him, Rene's life was one of faith, honor, and compassion. On Tuesday he passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and 3 sons.

I met Rene through my late husband of 35 years, a longtime, dear friend who extended his hospitality at his 91 Newbury Street salon to Rene & and the salon he was affiliated with until they found new quarters, which may have been before Rene opened up his own business. In spite of some time gaps when they lost touch from time to time, Romaeo and Rene always comfortably resumed their friendship whenever they did reconnect. One particular characteristic about that friendship -- Romaeo's ability to make Rene laugh hysterically. Listening to that was worth everything.....especially among such longtime friends. Love to Nona and the kids and grandkids....Ariana
May you Rest In Peace Rene. You left a wonderful legacy and you will be missed. God wrap His loving arms around your dear family. ❤️
